Welcome to Episode 4 on the WW2 Nation Podcast and as part of our ongoing focus on the Battle of the Bulge, we continue our conversation with Dr. Peter Caddick-Adams about the ‘Wacht am Rhein’ offensive.
In this second part of the interview we discuss various aspects of the campaign including terrain and weather conditions, how this impacted proceedings and compared to the 1940 invasion. We will also find out how well prepared the men of both sides were to cope with these circumstances as well as look at how events unfolded on Saturday 16th December 1944 that first day of the offensive, and the Allied reaction to this sudden surprise attack.
